Names for Chickens!

Sophie-Black Australorp (named after my grandmother)
Bridget- Delaware
Mille- Black Star
Hazel-Speckled Sussex
Josephine-Easter Egger (named after my grandmother)
Daisy-Buff Orpington

Gretchen-Gold Laced Wyandotte
Phoebe-Barred Rock
Lucy-Cuckoo Marans

Had another Black Australorp named after my mother, Apolonia, but unfortunately Apolonia became Apollo and had to be re-homed. Crowed at 9 weeks old!

We have 30 plus chickens but only a few have names. I warned my son and husband not to name the chickens because they are not pets but several slipped under the radar. I maintain that they were named to keep me from putting them into the freezer. We have:

RIR'S:

Rufus (Roo)
Gabby (the yacker)
Sleez (she's the one with no feathers on her back, a VERY popular girl)
Big Mama (constantly broody)

Bantam Cochins:

Blackie

Silkies:

Beelzebub (Mean little stinker)

Std Cochins:

Mixed breed bantam:

Big Al (named after my ex because my Gran always said he reminded her of a banty rooster)

Jersey Giants:

Buzzard (at 5 months he looks like one)
Gimpy (crippled hen that has become a pet)

The rest of the flock are just called Chicken or Dinner
