Did the mom injure the eye or was it just born with out and eye and socket?

Im really not sure about the eye.. All i know id Ive only seen one eye actually open. Its possible it was born without one.

Im sorry to say the duckling took a turn for the worst during the night. It is alive but not well at all and think im gonna have my husband put it out of its misery. Lord knows I cant do it. This morning the yolk was broke when i went to check on him. I dont know how it happened. Now there is a constant draining out of the sac and the duck is weak,, Im really sad I couldnt save the baby but outlook looks grim.
