Hey y'all! New to raising chickens and came across this site in search of information. We've had our chicks for ALMOST 24 hours now and I am so excited to finally be raising them! My husband and I have been discussing it for nearly a decade! We really like the idea of being able to have fresh eggs and also thought it would be a good way to introduce our children to the ag world. We have 8 chicks that we bought from our local Tractor Supply. They were sold to us as barred rocks and bantams, though I've recently learned "bantam" apparently refers to a number of different breeds ‍♀️ I'm really here to try learn as much as I can and establish a sort of support network to answer questions and help out on this new endeavor. Thanks!!

Congrats on your new chicks! Yep, bantams are just a smaller version of many different breeds that also lay smaller eggs. Since they stay small, they're a good choice for people with limited space... and they're really darn cute!
