Good morning! I am new to raising chickens and so excited to be able to take advantage of the knowledge of this group of experts! Yesterday we drove to Cackle Hatchery, as it’s only an hour and a half from our farm, and picked up our first ever chicks. My husband teased that we drove a total of three hours and spent three minutes in the store! 😬🤷🏼‍♀️ We have nine chicks—3 Cinnamon Queens, 3 Black Australorps, and 3 Barred Rock. The hatchery included an additional one of each breed. So far everyone is doing well. Never dreamed I would be keeping a brooder in my living room, but here I am! Lol!! They are pretty quiet and when not sleeping are eating and drinking and moving about the brooder so I assume everyone is settled in. Now to get started on the coop...
