That is a Black Australorp pullet at about 3 or 4 months old named Tillie. She is 3 years old now. :)

Thanks TwoCrows

My husband bought and brought home a pullet that looks just like her from a neighbor and he didn't ask what she was. My daughter loved the green shine and how sweet she was. She comes when you call her and is my daughter's favorite girl now.

Hi and welcome! I'm just south of Houston, so I know exactly what you mean about dealing with the heat!

I'd suggest doing a search of hot weather coops & open-air coops to get ideas on how to incorporate a lot of ventilation in your coop. I chose buff orpingtons, and so far they are doing fine. Their coop & run is in the shade and they're very comfortable even with all the heat and humidity.

Good luck and enjoy your chickens when you get them!
