I plan to attempt hatching a few turkeys (once I can figure out what type I want)… I will have a coop area off a fenced area. The fence is about 8’ tall. Would making a hot wire at the top keep them from flying over? Or should I plan to clip wings?

The trouble with a wood fence is that they will find it an attractive place to perch. They will invariably get down on the wrong side of the fence.

I don't know if a hot wire at the top of the fence would do any good. For a hot wire to work, the critter being shocked has to be touching the hot wire and a ground at the same time. Songbirds can sit on a hot wire with no effect to them because they aren't touching a ground.
