Thank you all!

I do have a question, I am having trouble trying to pick breeds of chicks, so far the only breeds that have been picked is begian bearded d'uccle (mille fleur verity) and Japanese bantams, we want colorful ladies since we can only have six birds...any suggestions? I would also like a verity that is easy going, what have you guys had luck with? What do you like best?

Are you going to stick with all bantams? Would also consider one or two Easter Egger or Ameraucana bantams for the colored eggs.
Not sure if you have seen these chicken breed comparison charts the Henderson one also has one for breeds that only come in bantam http://www.sagehenfarmlodi.com/chooks/chooks.html and http://www.albc-usa.org/documents/chickenbreedcomparison.pdf and http://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/breed-list.aspx
when you have narrowed down your choices, don't forget to check the BYC Reviews section for member reviews on the different breeds. https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/category/chicken-breeds

I have an exbattery,
a white leghorn for white eggs,
an Araucana for blue eggs
and a appenzeller that's ornamental and should lay cream eggs.
At spring I am getting a silver Sussex that will that a tan egg, a cream legbar that can be sexed at birth for bluey green eggs and a welsummer for dark reddy brown eggs that can be sexed at birth.
I have had polish and Blackrock in the past and both are truly beautiful and sweet birds aswell, unfortunately the fox got them :(

I'm sorry to hear that a fox got some of your ladies. It sounds like you could do Easter egg hunt without coloring any eggs! Very pretty eggs!

Are you getting them from a hatchery.. that would limit what breeds you have to pick from, and sexed or unsexed (think My Pet Chicken are the only ones who offer sexed bantams and they aren't that accurate from what people have said).
Silver/Gold Sebrights are another to think of if you like laced birds, also Cochins come laced and mottled, though they are usually really broody, Ideal also has quite a few of the Wyandotte colors including laced ones in Bantam. I personally love d'Anvers (prefer clean legged birds) but you have to get hatching eggs/chicks from breeders usually for the more colorful varieties.
