Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

It's very early, but I'm leaning toward male. (I don't have much experience & both of my silkies turned out female. Please don't make any decisions based on my guess, because in time you can be more sure of the gender.)

That being said.... I'm thinking male because the comb is bigger than mine were. The comb also has some wrinkles. The crest looks like it may have some of those hair-like structures (streamers) growing in back. A female's crest is very rounded.
I’ll wait to see if any features become more telling. I’ve had older chicks with the same streamers round out into nice round puffs. One of these two in the garage is trying to crow. The other is a bit younger and is white with a large (puffed up), smooth, red comb and is growing wattles so we are pretty positive it is a male. It also has the streamer look right now.

I have 11 chicks ages 5-7 weeks old.

#1 Rhode Island Red: Left- pretty sure this is a Roo

#2 RIR same pic Right- pullet?

I don't see any obvious males but there are some with a little more comb than others. It isn't red or a dramatic difference, though, so it could be normal variability in comb size. Give them a couple more weeks.

As for the "barred Rocks", dark=pullet only works if they had two barred parents. A mix from a barred (or cuckoo) rooster will make a lot of chicks that all look like pullets initially. I think #5 looks suspiciously like a cockerel with a single barring gene.

What do you think of these EEs?

Hello again!

Two new (I hope) pulleys. These are Hamburgs (the black n white). Lovely birds. One is much larger than the other, tho the smaller one had a broken leg as a baby chick which took time to heal. Pullets?? I sure hope!
