Ny boys have started to crow (update)

[Slaz Quail]

After a worrisome few months my rosters started to crow. Changes since my last post.

• I ditched solar lights after trying so many different types.

• i instead use an led shop light i got at goodwill and ran a long extension cable hooked up to a timer (4am-8am)

• i now added some layer crumble and dove and quail seed feed to lower the protein and raise the vitamins.

• i also cleard out some straw to reveal the dirt so the may bathe and hopefully lay eggs in.

I now manage to sex my 16 quail. I have 4 male and 12 females. I dont know what to do next others than wait for the eggs to come.

Id seperate out 2 of the males which may be overmating and stressing out the females holding up production. Generally u want about 5 to 6 hens to one roo especially while theyre young and zealous.
