Took the nice day to get prepped for winter... my atv need a new winch, so I spent like 4 hours dismantling it and installing a new one that works much better.
I posted a picture of a roll away nest box I built a couple weeks ago. I have combined the six older chickens into the new larger coop with the younger chickens and there was some some confusion at first as to where they where supposed to lay eggs. They were laying on the floor in the corner. So I took the eggs and placed them in the new nest box with some wood shavings and the figured it out real quick after that. Currently I have the nest pads on the bottom with some wood shavings on top of them until they get used to it. Most of the time do to the chickens moving around the eggs get rolled to the collection area.
Also I don’t know if I showed this before but I figured I’d share my water setup. It’s a 30 gallon barrel with a fountain pump inside pump water in a loop of 1” pvc piping that returns to the barrel. The pvc has horizontal chicken nipple installed in the piping, I like these because they don’t drip all over the floor when the chickens peck at them. Also there is a heater in the barrel connected to a temperature controller.
Also coming soon is the automatic coop door. I’m currently working on programming for the door and also working on making it the water temp controller. After that I will be designing an automatic feeder too.
