I seriously think you should ask your friend to check on her. I think she may be unstable. There is subsition. After all, that it your friends job. And then let her decide if there needs to be intervention. It sounds to me that the woman needs A LOT of help.

And what if she has more kids at home?

I will be praying for help for her and all the children who have been in that situation. Life can be cruel and unfair. But it is not the child's fault.
