I better...they came straight run...can't imagine they are all hens...Haven't really looked...I know I have a pearl roo. He is small, but flashy. I want to mess around with them a little. Mr Squeaky shall we say... needs Viagra...so I am hoping for another self blue ....they are sharp looking though. Didn't expect that.

Maybe a suggestion, over in the swap forum maybe posting all the info on the 1st page of the new thread, and that way to keep it fresh. Also all involved can have the link to the thread in the siggy line. I can have it on my siggy line also.

Don't be a stranger and just jump in when you see something you like.
I will get you on the list. Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Yes, I was welcomed a few weeks/months ago...just forget to check in this section enough. We're in Lawton...been here 12 years because dh is military. He comes and goes (just got back from a 15 month deployment) but the kids and I stay here, since this is home now.

We have 11 chickens. The oldest 6 we got as chicks in January...the youngest two we hatched out back in April. We also have a dog, 6 cats, and rabbits. Yeah, we spent a lot of money on all the special city licenses. My older two kids are 8 and 5 and are really learning a lot by helping care for the critters. The younger two just like to chase or hold them.

Yeah yeah go ahead and brag!!!! I just called them and they said that there was only one cabin reserved so far so that must have been you!!!!! You are just a over acheiver!!! lol So I wasnt to late and now I cant get ahold of them so go figure!!!

I said that once word was out that would fill up fast.
I know Chiclooker was the first one to reserve a cabin.
The lady at KOA had told me to tell everyone if they wanted a cabin to reserve it early because there would be no guarnatees any would be available down the line.
Therre are showers in the main lodge building.

Whew, was just excited. I did not really have to have the one with a half bath, was just the others were to big for me. I put in 2 in the reservation but I am sure I will be the only one in there, Lynn will go home, if he comes at all. I do not even pretend to know what the heck he is going to do from one minute to the next. I am sure if he is home he will make an appearance, he has to watch what I am buying.

So there is a possibility that I would have 2 spots open in the cabin that I could share with someone.

Yes, they have nice shower facilities there in the main building,
and it's right there next to the clubhouse. We were clueless when
we headed that way back in April. This KOA facility is super for
this type of an event.

And, like I've said before....for all you "much welcomed" new
folks....... There is a "10-minute limit" on feeling like a stranger.
We just don't allow it.....LOL

Have a good one.....and "Be There"

Wanted to post what we know about the "quail" discussion.

We have raised the Butler Bobwhites. Adults (keepers) will
weigh 12-16 ounces...occasionally up to 17 1/2 ounces.

Feed - They need Game Bird Crumbies, 28% protein, and other
than that, basic chick care. But, you Can Not mix them with
regular "chicken" chicks, and you Can Not mix them with
different batches of quail chicks. They are Game Birds and are
vicious little critters.

They are considered "Game Birds" and you can't raise/sell them
without a State Wildlife Permit, unlike the Coturnix Quail.
The Permit is $50/year and your facilities have to be inspected
by a Game Warden.

You can raise them "for your own use" with a "Use Only"
permit - $10/year. You can "give" someone a start of birds,
or birds to butcher, provided they acquire the $10/year
"Use Only" permit as well.

Mind you, I'm posting this from memory and don't have a clue
if any of the rules have changed, so more checking might be
in order. Several years ago, we had pheasants, chuckars, and
quail out here.

But, also remember, for the efforts......that was some "Good
Eating!!!"....LOL

Have a good one !
