Hey guys!!! I was at my local north 40 and I saw these chickens that they will have available soon. One day green egger and the other says olive. I was wondering what the difference is other than the look of the chicken!

I am looking to add a second olive egger to the flock that lays a deep dark green like the one I have. It’s just so pretty. And am in awe of the color.

I’ve seen a lot of varieties of olive eggers like lavender or moss as well and am not sure how all of this works as I am new to the olive egger game. Lol.

The difference is basically just that different breeds were used in each mix. And the egg color overall will be different. Olive eggers are much darker green than green eggers. Since welsummers were used in the olive egger cross there’s also a chance your eggs will be speckled. Olive eggers also have a chance of laying dark brown eggs instead of olive. Egg genes can be finicky sometimes and are not a perfect science. Hope this helps!!
