Where in the world do ducks hold their eggs before laying!? How can a small duck lay so many and not look fat, boy wouldn't it be nice for us female humans! But it just amazes me how they can lay so many but you don't see they are eggnant. And when you are seeing over a dozen in the nest, where are they all coming from!? Well I know where they are coming from, but how can a duck hold so many? And then the biggest miracle of all this is how they can just stay fertile without heat until momma is on them before they develope. It just amazes me!

Because it takes a duck's internal plumbing about a day to go from an ovulation to finished egg.

So the answer to how does it work is "One at a time, and very quickly."

Hey GMT, is that one of your Golden 300s in your avatar photo? I didn't realize some have white throat patches! She looks a lot like a duck I had as a kid.

They do it one at a time daily or every other day depending upon age or breed. They don't lay 14 eggs on a given day and then say "O.K., now I can go broody.
