*******SPECIAL DEAL******I want to add that I will include a FREE cage with the purchase of any pair/trio of adult birds that are reserved (with a $5 deposit) from me prior to the swap (please reserve at least 3 days prior to swap). If for some reason, I can not deliver (which is not going to happen), I will refund the $5 . The birds will be ready for pick up at the swap in the cage with food and water (your name to ensure they are waiting for you) containers to make life easier on everyone. Now you will not have to wait to pick up your birds for lack of space. These are not fancy cages, but they are decent wire cages with home-made but perfectly functional doors and should be roomy enough for almost any pairs of poultry I am offering (Muscovy ducks, guineas, one EE pair, bantam cochins, perhaps a couple of Silkie pairs. These cages will be set up with a feed sack at the bottom and hay/straw bedding so spills do not end up on the floor and like I said will come with food and water containers. This is also ideal for birds that are difficult to move or risk flying away.
We are also happy to clip wings on any birds if you let us know ahead of time (more than 48 hours in advance please). This offer is good until I run out of cages.

Bringing:
  • Black Spanish turkeys, $35 each. (FOUR left) They were hatched in late May, and are growing nicely to be moderate sized Thanksgiving birds, or NICE sized Christmas birds. I can't give you poundage, but I will get pictures of myself with them so you can get an idea! I have four left at this price. I would trade straight across one-for-one for a Christmas meat-type goose!
  • Broad Breasted White turkeys, late May hatch--$65 each (THREE left!) These guys are already topping 20+ pounds, live, and I expect them to be HUGE by Thanksgiving! They are already more than twice the size of the Black Spanish, and were hatched the SAME week.
  • Two LaMancha maiden 2-year old does. $125 each or $200 for both These ladies are only unbred because I don't have fence on the property, and cannot afford to put one up in the foreseeable future. I've had coyote problems, so don't want to risk a kid getting killed. They are Barnowl stock with National Ch lines and from does who have udders that are amazing. Email me and I will give you links to see their ancestors. I want to see them actually reach their potential.
  • Araucana (Araucana... not Ameraucana) chicks ranging from one week old, to a couple months (at time of swap)*Most are white barred with either a black or blue base coloration.*So far, I have three all-black, VERY rumpless (clean-faced) I am debating taking with me! (LOL) There is also one white chick who turned up in my last hatch!*A few have tails, but many do not.*There is one (so far... I have more due to hatch!) double tufted who did inherit a tail and few with unilateral tufting.*Most are cleanfaced and rumpless! **Prices will vary based on presence of tufts and/or rumplessness.**I do my best to handle and hand tame each one! (One 3 week old blue-barred hops up on my hand on cue, now!)
  • *I may have one or two dozen hatching eggs from my 4 hens: 1-black w/dbl-tufts, 1-BBR line red w/cleanface, 1-white w/cleanface, and 1-red pyle w/cleanface--covered by my barred, cleanfaced roo.
  • I also will bring handcrafted round frame drums. They are maple rings stretched with elk hide. Custom artwork can be arranged for your drum, if you choose!

  • Contact me if you want apples, apple butter, or apple pie jam from our orchard delivered to you! (A few, all the way to "canning quantities" available.) I am a Master Food Preservationist, trained by WSU extension service... so safety is my utmost concern.

Swap Rules and Procedures:

Check-in
Check-in time: 8:00am
The building will not be open prior to 8:00am. Everyone should be set up and ready to go by 10:30am as the event is open to the public at 11am. People will start arriving before then and it will be steady for quite awhile!
You may enter off 53rd or Reservoir Road. Guerber Hall is at the back of the fairgrounds, just past the Inside Arena. If you enter off 53rd, drive straight back to the tan building – Arena will be on your left, the campgrounds on your right. If you enter off Reservoir, you drive through the barns to the tan building next to the Rodeo grounds. You may pull up near the building to unload your vehicle (please be courteous and allow space for others to park too and please do not block any of the doors!) but then it must be moved to the large parking lot off Reservoir Road. This is our designated parking area since there are other events happening on the grounds.
Do not start unloading your vehicle until you have “checked-in” at the Help Table right inside the main door. To speed up the process, you may download the Intake Form (a separate document) and have it filled out prior to arriving. Every vendor will be required to have this form completely filled out before receiving their table information. This form is similar to what is required for fairs, shows, etc. Our purpose for these forms is:
1) To allow us to look “smart” this year! In the past, past we have not been able to give accurate information to buyers who have encountered a problem at the swap or simply wanted to make additional purchase and/or had questions for a specific seller. We will be keeping these forms on file for 1 year. Providing accurate contact information (phone or email or both – your choice) is very important.

2) It will allow the Help Desk Hostess to direct buyers looking for specific items to the vendors who may be able to help them, yes, again making us look “smart” and more efficient.

Spaces
After your Intake Form is completed and turned in, you will receive your Table Card, a name tag, 1 raffle ticket and will be directed to your space in the building. All spaces will be marked with blue painter’s tape and labeled with your Vendor number. Please remove the tape before setting up your tables. If you have requested the use of a Fairground’s table, your table will be set up with your Vendor number on it. Please be
courteous of your neighbor and do not switch spots. Your Vendor number corresponds with our building map that the public can pick up upon entering the event so it is important that you remain in your assigned area. I’ve done my best to accommodate all requests for pairings and groupings.
All spaces within the building are required to use tables (chairs are provided). You may place cages under or behind your table as long as you have a table in your space. Outside spaces are not required to have a table, may use canopies and are able to “spread out” a bit (please just stay within the area allocated for outside spaces). Cages need to be placed on feed bags, tarps, table clothes or other material to allow for easy clean up – outside too please. Keep your area tidy and clean and do not spread into the aisles or doorways. Cages and extra items should be stored under your table, behind your table if you have room or out in your vehicle. Additional storage within – or outside - the building is not available. No extension cords may be placed across the aisles or ran from inside the building to outside.
Decorating your space is highly recommended!!! People love pretty areas!

Biosecurity and other Concerns
All birds should be kept in cages that are large enough for them to stand up in, turn around in, etc. NO OVERCROWDING. Birds should have access to clean water and food at all times, heat if they are chicks. If you have a sick bird, leave it at home, along with all your other birds. Please do what is right and responsible. The image that we project to the public is obviously very important. On that same note, please also remind your buyers about the importance of biosecurity within their own flocks.
If we do see signs of illness in any of your birds or overcrowding/inhumane treatment, you will be asked to remove all of your birds and sale items from the building immediately and you will not be allowed to participate in any of our events again. This is not negotiable. Your vendor fees will also be forfeited.
If you as a vendor see any of the issues listed above or have a buyer point out something to you, or just see anything that causes concern during the swap, please report it immediately. It is our responsibility as the Organizers (Laura, Jeanine, Alexis, Lisa) to handle the situation.

Safety
We do not have “security” at the swap; you are in charge of this yourself. Please monitor your area and your items/birds or ask your neighbor to help out if you need to use the restroom etc. If your birds bite or you do not want people handling them, please make sure this is clearly designated.
If you are bringing a dog to the swap, please keep it on a leash and with you at all times. It should not be or cause a “problem”. As the fairgrounds staff said to me when I asked about dogs at the swap “your (their) problem becomes our problem and we do not want problems.” This applies to children too. I wouldn’t recommend a leash, but please keep them with you at all times. This is a public place with lots of buildings and exits. There is a campground nearby. There is a community of homes nearby. Lots of people will be coming and going from all the events happening all day long. Enough said. Or maybe the sign I will be posting says it better: “Unattended children will be given an espresso and a rooster”. We are not kidding.

Sales
It is highly recommended that all vendors conduct their “business” of trades and purchases prior to the swap opening to the public. It is unlikely you will have a lot of time during the swap to do so plus it will most likely help out the seller by freeing up some space! It is also recommended that you set time limits for birds or items you are holding for other vendors or the public. Sadly, people do not always “honor” their commitment which leaves the seller with a bird they could have sold or a buyer who reserved a bird only to show up and find it has already been sold. Communication is key.

Food/ATM/Accomodations
Food will be available for purchase outside the main door starting at 9am till 4pm. We also have use of the kitchen if you want to bring your own food. There are restrooms at the back of the building (real ones!) for both vendors and the public. The fairgrounds have provided us with the use of their ATM which is located inside the Arena. There will be signs posted around the building letting buyers know this too.
The Fairgrounds has a very nice campground for those who might want to come down early. I don’t think roosters would be welcomed but I wanted to mention this option.

Clean Up
All vendors should plan on staying after the swap (4pm) and cleaning up not only their area but also pitching in to clean the rest of the building too. This has been an issue in the past but it will not be again. You must take all your trash with you or put it in the dumpster outside. Leaving a bag of garbage/debris by a trash can is NOT cleaning up. You must sweep your area completely (even outside spaces) and remove all debris your animals/humans leave. If you have brought hay, shocks of corn etc to decorate the doorways, these must go home with you. All the tables and chairs must be put away and the entire floor must be swept and mopped before we lock the doors. It would be nice to have a few people to help with this task as it is quite daunting. Bathrooms and the kitchen must be cleaned as well (trash, debris, counters wiped, toilets flushed etc).

In closing...
If we all work together, the swap goes very smoothly and the fun is endless! The fairgrounds and their staff have been very generous to our event so let’s pay them back by giving the public another fantastic Poultry Day and leaving their building clean and ready for the next event!

Tomorrow is Swap Day!!!

This is the last "official" update of this list. It was taken from our Facebook group. See everyone tomorrow at the Swap!

Jenn Nashoba (paid)

(A few, all the way to "canning quantities" available.) I am a Master Food Preservationist, trained by WSU extension service... so safety is my utmost concern.

hi can someone let know to alexis that i want one of those naked neck turken my name is nelson ill be there at the swap shortly

Do we even want a swap thread for the spring swap, or just keep all the craziness on FB?
it is actually easier to "follow" changes here but I like the 'conversations' on FB.

On here, Items or Persons are more connected and reference-able.

JMTC

mega thanks and applause for the organizing crew. That was just too much of a great time to pass up. Want again.

k/

I agree with Birdnbeast. I like the chat on FB but was nice to have a page here to direct some there and to see the list easily. However, I can go either way as it is all fun. Annnnnd, those that put in so much hard work get to be those who tell us attendees how it shall be, lol.
