Just wanted to share/brag on my husband who took two months to build this during his afternoons after getting off work. Half of it was built in the dark while wearing a headlamp. He got the pallets, posts, and lumber free from the city landfill/dump site. The fencing and tin roof was leftover materials from a shed teardown and a garden from 10 years ago. He made the doors out of plywood and fencing. The only thing we purchased new were latches, hinges, nails, and roofing sealant. He also built 4 huge nesting boxes inside, and 3 larger perches as well. But it's kinda dark in there so hard to get a good picture. The coop has two windows covered in hardware cloth, but no installed lighting.

We have 5 hens, 1 rooster, and 5 chicks about 2 months old. They are extremely pleased with the upgrade in their accommodations. We had a pre-fab coop I bought off Amazon before. It was too small and difficult to clean, and kept breaking even though it was brand new. I think the new coop will last some time. I'm going to paint or poly the wood at some point since it's not treated lumber. I mean, it's never gonna be pretty. But it's doing a pretty good job keeping out our giant chicken-eating dog, and the chickens like it so, it's good enough for me. The best thing is that we don't have to break our backs bending down to get in and out. Posts are 8'!

Congratulations! Glad your chickens are happy & have plenty of room! Painting it with watered down acrylic paint would brighten it up a bit !A little bit goes a long way!

We also used reclaimed wood. This part of the coop is pallets. We needed to make it bigger because chicken math and all. The main coop is an old playhouse that we extended back with some free wood. Only thing we paid for was the hardware cloth and metal roof. First picture is the original playhouse we added onto. Second is the pallet addition.
