Good day everyone! 🌤️ I've read 3 months is the right time to move peafowl outdoors, is that so?

Our peachicks are currently in a brooder, but they will need something larger if I have to keep them indoors until then. What do you guys keep them in?

They are currently 5 days old, Earth Day babies! 🦚🌎 thank you all for your help in advance.

You will get a lot of different opinions on when to put them on the ground, everywhere from to six months to a year which is total BS. How do peahens raise chicks on the ground from birth? We put our chicks on the ground as soon as possible, usually around eight to ten weeks. It is all about controlling cocci and worms. We treat once per month for both cocci and worms which will keep the parasites in check and the chicks healthy. After the snow flies we stop deworming and by spring the cocci treatments are unnecessary. Use Toltrazuril for cocci, other treatments have proven to be inadequate.

Thank you so much for this. What do you use for deworming them?

We use Safeguard if oral drench or Valbazen in the water for large quantities of birds in a single pen at the rate of 20ml per gallon and made fresh daily. We deworm two weeks in a row, two days per week. Skip a week and dose with Toltrazuril for two days. You don't need to start deworming until the chicks have been on the ground for at least a month.
