Hello Everyone,

I have a house chicken named Gabby. I love her dearly. I have come to relieze that there are "others" out there too. I was thinking that we needed a place to chat. A place that is safe, where we won't be judged that our chickens are sitting on the couch with us eating grapes and NOT wearing a diaper. If you believe like I do, that every chicken deserves the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, even if it's curled up next to the fireplace on a stormy night, or sunbathing on the patio with the dogs, or maybe napping on the bed with the cats. Well, this might just be the place for you. So welcome....

Everyone

I'm not judgemental on this issue in the slightest! I'd love to be able to have one of my girls live inside with us! But DH won't let me!

My argument is: Hey! The DOG gets to come inside! The CAT gets to come inside! Why not one of my girls? Huh? Huh? Why not Mr. I Wear The Pants In This Household? How come one of my girls can't enjoy all of the pleasures of indoor living? .............................He has never given me a satisfactory answer to this.

So, enjoy the companionship of your fine feathered friends being indoors, and know that some of us are terribly jealous!

I have a house chicken named Virginia! What's yours named? She lives in a bathroom with a bunny I rescued and I bring her out every day to socialize and spoil. She rules the roost as far as the rabbit goes! It's a riot. She runs at him and raises her hackles. But she doesn't hurt him. Her favorite thing to do is to take a dust bath on our lazyboy chair!!! LOLOL! It's brown like dirt so... She scratches it, fluffs and rolls around on it and then collapses and takes a nap in the "sun". Poor thing doesn't know any better! I will be taking her outside as soon as the two and a half foot of snow melts and the weather warms up. I want to get her a friend, too. She is almost ready to start laying. How about yours?

I have an OEGB that lives in the house. She plays with the dogs, always charging them then running away! She even went after my vaccum!

She is spoiled and will NOT wear her diaper, she flops around on the floor until she gets it off. She will also fuss and fuss at night until we wrap her in her pink blanket and put her in her basket:rolleyes:!
She was hatched under a hen, but I went out there when she was only a few hours old and found her face down in the dirt. I thought she was dead, but when I picked her up she moved. Soooo I popped her in the incubator and here she stayed!
Her name is princess!

I have a Trio of Seramas in the house. Been in here since last august. I have them in a rabbit cage in the entryway. They are Tony Orlando and Dawn. Spoiled rotten. Tony crows every morning at about 4 am. One of the girls has been laying for about 3 months. Most of my friends would say i'm nuts and i'm ok with that.

Yep my dog's ears perk up immediately with any poop release sound.

Our house Banty, Taco Belle, had been with us indoors since we found her 6+years ago this past January. She is totally house trained when you are holding, snuggling her, bedtime. Her manners are excellent in that regard, but if left to run around she will occassionally leave something little behind, though with the dog it's pretty much cleaned up right away. She'll nromally "let you know" she's gotta go and happily gets tossed out the door, poops in under 30 seconds then runs back up the stairs and back inside.

She loves to just snuggle all day long and sometimes I keep her inside the warm vest I wear. She even goes shopping with me all tucked away sometimes. She goes on most of our family vacations and travels better than any one else in the car. Sometimes she is a Pets on Wheels Chicken.

She of course knows her name and comes when called, unless she's dusting in her favorite house plant, then she just ignores everyone.

We finally decided to get some working girls this summer and came home with 4 ee chicks (1 ended up a roo/re-homed and have since added 2 more). Taco was not amused with theses "animals" but after several weeks of slow integration she decided they weren't so bad afterall . . . though in no way was she going to stay outside all day w/ them!

All the chicken bonding stopped when cold weather hit, as she's old now and not really a cold weather bird, so maybe in the Spring she'll be able to free range with the big girls while I'm back gardening outside.

Hi my name is suburbanminifarm and I have a confession--- I let my chickens in the house...
Some come to the kitchen and look at me like "well, what are you making?" Some just like to occasionally watch a little TV. Yesterday my Hamburg flew in and ate a few bites of my son's cereal. It was corn pops. One silkie lays her egg in the family room then excuses herself back outside. My roo only comes in to politely supervise the laying, and never poos in the house. My daughter loves to have friends over, and the girls dress up the chickens. Apparently it is more fun than Barbies. The girls cut out clothing shapes from fabric remnants and have fashion shows. I wonder what my reputation is among the other girls' parents, probably we are "THAT" family. Oh well.
I also have serama eggs (from seramaland2) in the incy, so soon I am hoping to have Malaysian house chickens!

I have house chickens :p

Actually roosters. My neighbors are pricks. It started with Boss the silver sebright and yesterday Dirtburner the buff bantam cochin joined him, there's going to be at least 2 more, a Birchen cochin and a bantam dark brahma. As soon as they crow they come in.

Boss likes to eat my food and sit on the people bed. He makes adorable little noises when he gets to nap with us and talks back when I talk to him.
