Our pet turkey seems to be on track to losing ALL her feathers within the space of a couple weeks.
She doesn’t get bullied by any other birds - she mingles freely with the ducks and our guinea fowl and even now when she looks terrible, they get along well.
no other birds seem to be affected by anything (ticks or mites), and in every other way she seems in good health? Shes energetic, responsive, good appetite, normal droppings. Shes still got quills in her and I’ve seen little feathers resprouting from the tips, so my thought is, maybe this is a very poorly timed molt??
Regardless of why, my biggest concern is how well she can handle the cold like this. We’ve been very lucky that winter has been mild so far, but she’s already visibly shivering. I’ve increased the protein via snacks and supplements, but I can’t think of anything else I can do for her. Maybe put one of our dog’s neckerchiefs for warmth?? Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!
