My broody RIR is sitting on a nest of assorted chicken eggs and 1 pheasant egg. I got the egg from a butcher who also raises gamebirds, and I put it under my hen 3 days before I put the chicken eggs under her. I can't wait to see it hatch! I've never raised a pheasant before, and have only seen them running about in the country since they have become naturalized in Western MT. None of our chickens fly since they are all heavy breeds. They don't even know that they can get over the 2 1/2 foot high garden "fence!" I bet ol' Momma Hen will be surprised when one of her chicks takes its first flight!

Thanks for the advice. The pheasant didn't make it through the hatching stage.
