All six of my blue & lavender hens were sitting on this perch together showing off their different shades.
From front to back is Miyagi (Blue Rock mix), Garri (Wyandotte mix), Siggy (Blue Rock), Goose (lavender Wyandotte), Willow (lavender Orp only her comb is showing) and Chicory (Rhode Island Blue).
I think the first pic is the best one I got but here they are from the other direction.

Here are some more pics of Chicory. Her body is a lighter color but her neck is dark with some silver leakage. I’m pretty sure she came from Mt Healthy. She lays some of the largest eggs in my flock. She’s a great bird. Not overly personable with people, but she’s a top hen in the flock and yet never acts like a bully. What is yours like?Don’t get to see Rhode Island blues too often on here! I have one also. Would love to see her individually and check out the variation if you want to share sometimes.
They’ve decided they identify as pigeons now and no longer wish to be called chickens (I know my set up is a bit odd looking but they are living in our demo-ed bathroom at the moment lol)With our great new homepage for BYC, we've also now got an exciting new system and process for our Picture Of The Week (POW), so we need your submissions!!!
Your Submissions MUST:
Submit your POW by simply replying to this thread and attaching an image
- Be an image you took & own the rights to
- Be a sharp, clean, picture that's at least 800 pixels wide
- Include a short sentence about your picture, e.g., "My overly friendly Buff Orpington named Alehendra"
- We prefer "landscape" (sideways) photos, but we'll accept really awesome"portrait"(tall) pictures... we just may need to crop them
We don't have a strict process or time-frame for how/when the POWs are posted, but in general they will be posted to the homepage weekly, and clicking on the POW will bring you to the post within this thread where the image was submitted.
Wow she’s gorgeous. The pearly feathers around her neck are so pretty. My Jafar has a lot more red/orange around her neck. She’s going through a soft molt the past 6 months and she’s the lowest on the pecking order, so she looks pretty tattery. I wish she’d shed the tattered feathers already. Jafar also lays the largest eggs in our flock, I have a hard time closing the egg carton when her eggs are in it! Thanks for sharing, so neat to see the variation. Edit to add I love the name you gave her, Chicory is perfect. Here are some more pics of Chicory. Her body is a lighter color but her neck is dark with some silver leakage.
