Hi everyone! My lavender Orpington Spring hurt her leg on the right side. Not quite sure how she did it but she's limping and she is holding it up up to her body. Not sure what treatments to give her it's not broken to my knowledge but very warm. She is getting around and making noise But last night when I was putting them to bed I noticed she wasn't up on the henhouse and was leaning on her left side. I didn't want to bother her before bed so I'd let her go To sleep. Anything I can give her to help her feel better I can even wrap her leg for her but I don't want her to be in pain.

A picture of the wound will help a lot

ONE baby aspirin (81mg) can be offered for pain, once you've ruled out any possibility of a broken bone. If you do not have baby aspirin, an appropriate portion of a buffered aspirin is the second choice. Baby aspirin has the most buffering, and the correct dosage, so is preferred. Buffering will be kinder to her digestive tract. Keeping you and your feathered family in my prayers.

Thank you for your help. It's greatly appreciated!

It may help to force her to rest the foot and leg by keeping her inside a pen or a dog crate with food and water. Check her daily, and see if she is still keeping her leg up.

If the leg looks normal, no bumble cuts etc. I would suggest a week or so of Epsom salt soaks twice a day and isolation during this time with limited supervised play dates. I had a Cookoo Marans who limped and I spent $175 at the vet for her to do X rays and tell me sprain.
