In the Brooder
I have a few pullets that I just moved out of temporary housing to join my main flock. I noticed these scabs along the back of a few of the ladies legs/hocks, and a little along the toes…
As I was cleaning out their old area I noticed some hardware cloth exposed and sharp along where they had been digging. Wondering if it could be from scratching around and getting poked by the wire.
Hoping it is something simple that I can clean and treat. All my birds are vaccinated for Mareks. However, a month or so back, I had to euthanize my favorite hen and the necropsy confirmed Mareks. Her main symptoms were slow paralysis and degeneration. Still confused as she was purchased from a feed store that sells vaccinated chicks (any insight on that is welcome!!) Anyways, I saw on another post with similar leg sores, that someone had asked if the bird was vaccinated for Mareks. Now I'm worried this is a symptom I wasn’t aware of. Please help!!!!
