Where the deer and the antalope play
I just got a polish chicken. I knew they had feathers on their faces, but I saw some at fair and you could see their eyes. The one I got, you can't see his eyes, and he's completely blind. He doesn't react when you pass your hand an inch from his face. Is this normal? Can you trim the feathers in from of their eyes, so they can get around? My poor guy bumbles into everything, and tends to choose one chicken and follow it around. (I don't know how he finds it, sound?) It's a wonder he can eat, too. Will it hurt anything to trim his feathers, just enough for him to see?

Thanks!

I didn't have that issue with my girl but from what I hear it is fairly common. Yes, you can trim the feathers. I don't remember how far/much you should trim but hopefully someone else will stop in with that knowledge.
