Pondless ....

Nope, they don't need a pond. In the warmer months mine have a small pool to swim in. In the winter they have a 3 gallon rubber water bowl that they swim in. If there's water in it, they'll try to swim in it.
 
No pond needed here!! Happy as clams....

My ducks use their kiddie pool year round. Even in the coldest months this winter, I would use a 5 gallon bucket to pour water into the pool first thing in the morning. As soon as I let the ducks out of their night time shelter, they would run, quacking into the pool and splash around. When it was bitterly cold out, they wouldn't stay in very long, but still played in the pool every morning and every afternoon. In my experience, ducks love water. It doesn't matter if it's a lake or a mudpuddle.

Sounds Great ! I have a 'puddle' that is deep enough for my kids bicycle (lol) and pretty wide that I could use . I was considering filling it in with fill dirt but why not get use out of it . I'll just have to make sure my 4 yr old wild boy doesnt throw his bike in it anymore .
