Possible nerve damage from a roo attack & possibly blindness

Okay great .. we cut out the cracked corn as well. They only get the crumble feed .. 20% now. We don't have them on oyster shells but will go to the feed store in the morning. We were giving them eggshells but we learned that oyster shells are what's required. She's about 6 mths old but not laying yet .. our bresse hens are the same age & have been laying for about 5 wks or so. We hear that silkies lay a little later but that's not a concern for us. Getting her through this is our priority. Thanks again .. we'll post updates.

Thank you so much for your kind advice and knowledge. I'll hold off on the treats and continue with the 20% all flock crumble that she's on now. Should I also cut out the cracked corn? I'm not sure if that's more of a treat or a requirement. I'll try to get pix of her eyes as well. My husband suggested a "hair cut" as well, so we'll attempt that today, she does have a pretty good hairdo going on so she would probably benefit from a trim.
That's horrible news about silkies having a hole in their skull .. I had no idea. I'll keep you posted on any developments. Thanks again!
I would cut the corn or greatly limit it to 1 small treat every week or so.
I've never had Silkies, but have done some reading about them from time to time. I'm on the fence about them. I'd love to have some for their brooding qualities, but feathered feet just seem like a real pain to deal with too...

Anyway. You might find the site below helpful or at least some of the articles insightful. I have not read all articles, but most pertain to Silkies and/or Araucanas but a lot of that info can relate to other breeds as well. (Except for the hole in the skull which is interesting in itself!).

Thanks for the links .. these are our first silkies and any info is greatly appreciated. We too find their little feathered feet somewhat problematic as are their numerous toes .. we dip their feet in warm water occasionally throughout the summer & dry the feathers with a soft towel just to keep any build up of poop to a minimal. We have deep shavings this winter so we're hoping that the poop on feet will be under control.
