Yeah. My easter eggers just recently started laying and they have laid a few. The eggs were ginormous. I felt bad for them! Edit: Buff Orpington egg between 2 of them
Often when pullets first start laying it takes their system a while to get the process all ironed out and all sorts of weird eggs can happen. Wait till the first time you get a "rubber" one with no shell.
As long as it's not a chronic thing I wouldn't worry. It takes a bit for their bodies to get the process nailed down. Even in their prime an odd egg can happen now and then.
ok, thanks! I am pretty sure its ok too! My 1 year old barred rock had been acting strange a couple weeks ago, then she laid a soft shelled egg the next day. It is laying hard shelled eggs now and its really active. so i think there is nothing to worry about.
