YAY! Leghorn People!

Okay, so here's the story. My husband has always loved Blue Andalusians and I was always the "Dual Purpose" Girl (Brahmas *were* my fave). So we went to place an order with McMurray last month and I got to decide what to fill the order with. So I was thinking I wanted some good laying pullets and we have plenty of brown layers right now, so I though what they hay I'll check out some white layers. We had white leghorns last year that were nice, but they just never struck my fancy and we ended up selling them even though they really were striking birds. Then I saw them! RC Brown Leghorns. The rosecombs will be nice with the cold winters here in MI, and it realy doesn't get too hot for them to need the extra air conditioning, and they are that lovely wild brown color. Needless to say I am smitten. Planning on dabbing in showing them this summer at the fair in open class. I've never shown Poultry before and thought this would be a nice unique variety to show off to folks that may never have heard of them (Like me

Just kind of curious if anyone on here breeds or shows the rosecomb variety? I may be interested in hatching eggs....

I posted in the What Breed/Gender forum, but no one had a sure answer on breed for my little bantam, Tiki. I've looked through this thread, and I'm wondering if s/he could be a Brown Leghorn Bantam. Is that even Here are some pictures:

Tiki at ~1 1/2 weeks (I'm not certain of age, purchased 4/15 from TSC's random bantam bin)

Some of the pictures in this thread (especially chicks) remind me a lot of my little bantam. What do y'all think? Am I just way off base here? I'm very new to raising chickens, so I'm by no means experienced in determining breed. Thanks for any advice!

I have a question about my leghorn's gender. I have two white leghorns at about 5 weeks old and both are developing combs. However one of them has a comb that's turning a bit pinker than the other's comb. I got them both from the "pullet bin" and I have no experience with white leghorns. Can I tell their gender at this age? I don't have a pic of her right now but I can put one up tomorrow. Just wanted to throw this question out there. Thanks in advance.
