Does anyone know the life cycle of poultry lice? I treated with permethrin a week ago, then again today. I've also heard to do 10 days after initial treatment. Do I need to do a third treatment?

Permethrin spray has good residual action, so examine your birds very carefully before treating them again. The permethrin dust doesn't have the same residual time, so repeat treatments are needed. Then it depends on the flock exposure to the little critters, in other words, the parasite burden on the wild birds they interact with. Mary
I can confirm this... the rooster I treated for lice several weeks ago still has no lice, so the spray really must have excellent residual action, much better than the powder. Most insecticides don't kill eggs, but residuals will kill the little beasts when they hatch out. Let us know how things work out! Mary
