Predator proofing

This is the same apron @aart referenced, but taken a month or so back......

Not sure if you can see, but that is what an attempted break in looks like. Varmint started his dig at the base of the house......where vertical meets horizontal.......and immediately hit the wire and was stopped. Did it in two places. They never figure out they need to back up a couple feet and start their tunnel operation way out behind them.

That is the advantage of aprons vs. burying the wire vertically. That is a race to see who gave up first......you or the predator.
 
Our coop was built very well. Top has hardware cloth all around and doors have double locks. Mine free range during the day only if I am home. Sorry about the mess...we have had to remove some trees.
We have super strong pet screen on the outside and behind that on the inside is hardware cloth all the way to the ceiling.
