First, ew!

Second I was checking the vent area of my hen that hasn't laid in quite some time. I checked under her apron and lifted the tail feathers a bit. There were many pale yellow and white little bugs. I haven't seen anything like them on the internet.

Third, what's the treatment?

sevin dust. We give them a good dusting also you will need to do coop and all. Make sure to wear a mask when you do it just becareful around the head. good luck jeff

I second that. I tried DE and Ivomec pour-on. But, you have to get the Ivomec in just the right spot or it gets absorbed into the feathers and doesn't work. We used Seven dust and then used it again 2 weeks later and are not mite and lice free.

Do I need to stuff chickens in a bag and shake them all around? Can I add the dust to the dust bathing spots outside? And sprinkle the dust all over the coop? Nest boxes and all?

They are lice...most likely... know the difference before you treat... Lice are easy to get rid of.
