the hackle feathers look rounder with a dark stripe down the middle to me.

I suppose if physical features aren't helpful here, I can wait to see if I get any eggs. Does anyone know about what age I should expect eggs?

Anywhere from 6-8 months for most banties of similar breeds.

Update! There was a mix up, and this bird is three months old, not six months.

Cockerel then. At 3 months, male feathering would just be starting to come in, but might not yet be very visible.

It's been a while, but I have a final update! I waited it out since I was unsure, but I definitely have a cockerel. Huge comb and earlobes, sickle feathers on his tail, hackle and saddle feathers, and spurs, plus tons more crowing, and not a single egg. Thanks to everyone who helped me try to figure this out!
