Anyone know if pumpkin seeds are poisonous to ducks? We are carving pumpkins outside and I'm afraid they are going to eat them. I know pumpkin is ok from Nettie's list. Thanks!

chickensducks&agoose :

my ducks keep sneaking seeds from our pumpkin carving area... dang ducks, I want those seeds!!!

A wild duck just now flew into my yard and stole some.

I was going to roast those!

I did some reserach a few years ago, when my silkies had worms, and found out that Fresh Pumpkin Seeds (crushed) are a natural dewormer, something in them paralyzes the parasites for a short time after consumption so that the body can expell them.

I'm a vegetarian! Still, funny.

I'm pretty sure pumpkin guts are perfectly safe for ducks. I would certainly never hesitate to feed them to mine. Except that we like to roast and eat them ourselves, so it's tough for the ducks! lol.

I think you're safe letting them forage the seeds & guts.
