Hello!
I have a pullet that was from one of five mixed eggs that hatched back in mid October. She’s solid black and iridescent. Her name is Raven. I’m very curious about who the mother is. The father is my only Easter Egger Roo pictured below. One of the hens in the picture is the mother as well. I know nothing about chicken genetics. Any feedback is appreciated!

PS- the only possible moms are a Silver Laced Wyandotte, Barred Rock, Golden Comet, or the Easter Egger hen pictured.

She has a very tiny single comb. Its so small it’s almost nonexistent.

The barred rock pullet next to her is from the same clutch, for comparison.
Her comb looks like it could be a pea comb to me. Is the barred one next to her an Easter egger x barred rock cross?

Her comb is so tiny that it’s hard to even tell. It’s a single comb though. And her very dark skin and eyes are throwing me off. Maybe some genetic throwback?

Yes. The barred pullet next to her is a cross of the EE rooster and Barred Rock hen.
Then he is a cockerel. Barring is sex linked, so if you cross a rooster without barring to a barred hen you will only get barred male chicks.

Her face will probably redden with time, but I agree, it’s interesting

Thank you for explaining the barring sex link! That explains some questions I’ve had about that one. I found it laying near death after a small hawk attack and brought it inside and nursed it back to health. It’s been a little stunted and very different from the other two cockerels from the clutch. Those dudes are very obviously cockerels!
