PYGMY/NIGERIAN DWARF GOATS

Nigerians are smaller, and produce less then a full size dairy goat. But they make up for that with the food to milk ratio. Skyesrocket is right, Pygmys are more of a meat goat.

You won't get much milk from a pygmy/nigerian cross. A pygmy is actually considered a meat goat. I think the teats would be too small to milk and milk production would be low.

I beg to differ. You can get a nice amount from good crosses. Care must be taken to make sure that you obtain goats with good udders and milking lines. Pygmies, while considered a meat goat are most certainly milkable.

i had a pygmy goat that gave me half a gallon a day lol. dang i miss her!

i have had several pygmies that milked well, and had lots of nigerians that didnt milk so well. it just depends on their blood lines i suppose

You are more than welcome to differ.

That is how we learn. My experience with pygmies was that the teats and bags on the line I had were so small that I would have needed elf hands to milk them.
That is one reason why I replaced them with nigerians.
