Quail lost leg and broke wing! *Graphic images*

My young pharaoh Coturnix quail has lost a leg and broke his right wing. I have him in separate cage on the grass with bedding food and water period. I found a bone in the poop underneath the cage.

How did he lose his leg? That is awful. Is the cage left outside overnight?

While waiting for help, I would try to let it drink some electrolytes in the water. Keep it inside if you can in a box to help recover.

While waiting for help, I would try to let it drink some electrolytes in the water. Keep it inside if you can in a box to help recover.

I keep him in a different cage and just moved him to a separate cage. I can’t keep him inside sadly.

First of all you need to treat the wound. Gently run it under some room temperature water to get blood and other stuff off. Then put triple antibiotic ointment without pain relief on the wound to prevent infection.

Then you need to deal with the wing. Where on the wing did it break? How bad is the breakage?

The raccoons have obviously found your birds so they are not safe outside but deal with helping the bird right now.

I'm so sorry about your quail. With only one good leg, he will have to use his wings to help balance and with one wing broken, the poor quail is really in a bad way. I don't mean this harsh, but if he were my quail, I would put him down. Sorry.
