Questions about giving chickens the run of your backyard

I have bleeding hearts in my backyard and I have been free ranging my girls in the backyard for years and they have never touched them. They actually scratch right along side them without the slightest interest in eating them. I'll see if I can grab a picture of them scratching next to them today. I think they are pretty smart about what should and shouldn't eat.

Here is my flock by one of the bleeding hearts. It is hard to see but it is under the lilac behind the wooden bucket. They don't bother them at all. I'm not saying yours won't but them seem like they know to avoid them.
