Hi all. I think my middle aged chicks are ready to move outdoors to the coop but would like others thoughts. I have 9 3 week olds, mixed breeds in the brooder. They are rowdy, their feathers are coming in nicely, practicing flying and all very sturdy. They get time outside the brooder crate daily to run around, scratch and practice flying. Off heat for almost a week. They’ve had a couple of outdoor field trips where several caught and ate grasshoppers.
They’ll be joining 3 3 month old bantams who are already in the coop. The older bantams have been in the shop twice to ‘meet’ them.
Our daily temps are in the 90s with 60’s overnight. The coop is an insulated 8x8 shed.
I feel like they can do it but don’t want to rush it. Thoughts?

Where will they be in the coop? Is there a roost or something for them or just bedding? mine went full time in the coop at about 8 Weeks but it was still pretty cool at night. My coop is open air so I had to be concerned with drafts at night. At eight weeks, they were able to get on the roosting bars at night.
