Red hen with black tail

Good morning from Los Angeles ca.

I just adopted a hen, named her Peckie.
She is the only chicken.
Need your assistance to know what breed it is and what foods she can eat. Also if ok to let roam in yard or keep in coop, 10sqft. My yard is is 60x 50 ft.

that looks like a leghorn, or some kind of game bird. has it laid eggs yet? between the redness of the comb and the pointy neck feathers, I cannot tell if it is a hen.

She looks to be a female gamefowl of some sort. Any 20% protein feed such as flock raisers should be good. She should be good with free ranging but make sure that your coop is secure and there is a secure attached run in case if you see any prowling animals around your home. I would highly suggest adopting another chicken as they are flock animals and need to be in a group of at least 3 to be happy.

Oh yes, I missed that.
They get very lonely and don’t play well on their own.
Their little legs are too short for push bikes to visit their friends and playing solitaire get complicated with wings
I always buy my girls in twos even though I have 8 at the moment (two more next year ) so that they have someone the same age to play with.

No eggs yet, I was told female when I adopted her 3 days ago.

American Gamefowl female. She's wheaten/wheaton in colour

She looks like one of my hens I love their tails. Mine has yellow legs and I believe she’s an American Gamefowl, lays light brown eggs.
