Refrigerator pickle recipe

Hi! I was hoping that some of you would have tried and true recipes for refrigerator pickles that you could share with me. I've never made them before, but I've had them. We like dill and bread and butter pickles the best.

Susie's Refrigerator Pickles


Step #1
6 Onions, sliced 6 Cucumbers, sliced
1 tsp Powdered Alum
Cover cucumbers and onions with cold water, add alum and mix together.
Let rest for 1/2 hour
then drain.

Step #2
Mix together:
4 Cups sugar 3 Cups white vinegar
1/3 Cup salt 1 tsp tumeric
1 1/2 tsp celery seed 1 1/3 tsp mustard seed

Place step #1 in gallon jar, then pour step #2 over top. If pickles are
still not covered finish with
cold water. Store in refrigerator for 2-3 days before eating.
They will keep up to 9 months, and syrup can be used twice before it
loses its strength. These
cucumbers retain the fresh taste. Can combine with zucchini in the same
jar.
