I culled my first chicken before I lost one but this morning I found my mille d'uccle rooster, Mr. Mister, dead under the coop without a mark on him. We brought him in and warmed him up, just in case but to no avail.
He was a gentleman with the ladies and a sweetheart with the kids (my oldest son is pretty upset). He was also drop dead gorgeous (no pun intended). We called my egg customers and traded some LF eggs for the eggs his favorite hen laid this week and we're incubating them (actually, a friend is for us). Wish us luck. I really hate to lose those genes.
RIP, Mr Mister.
