rooster or strange hen?

My roo started crowing at about 12 weeks, so a year is a long time for it to start crowing. You'd know by now if it was a rooster. I've heard where a hen will take the place of a rooster and kind of crow. Does the comb have a single row?

I'm pretty sure all roosters have a triple row comb. So you probably have a hen that's taking on the rooster role. But I could be wrong....we'll see what others say.

I have a chicken that I posted a picture and asked if it was a rooster and everyone said it was it hasnt started crowing yet but it has a single comb. a picture might help and maybe do it in the "What breed or gender is this?"
