Roosters

Just alittle bit more about my Roosters/cockerels. They're hand raised from day 1. This includes picking them up almost every day, & cuddle time, & talking to them.

I also do this with my roosters. They cuddle under my arms like I’m their mama hen. That’s why it’s so sad for me if they turn mean. Most are only slightly mean if they are at all.

I've only had 2 from separate batches from a year apart that ended up human aggressive.

But the worst ones I've ever raised over the years were Rhode Island Reds which seem very genetically prone to human aggression.

This is my first rooster knight. I didn’t raise him from a baby but I got him young. He was great with me not so good with other people. I didn’t have enough hens at the time so he was actually hurting them so I had to rehomeView attachment 3802206 him.
He's a big boy.

I wanted to start a thread that discussed roosters. From them being rough or gentle to your hens to being good with people or attacking you. I have my own rooster and have given away four others but I haven’t given much time for learning about roosters so hopefully I can learn something! I would also love to see pictures and hear stories! The rooster I have now is a Cochin named Royal he is a year old and has never attacked a human. He is great with my hens and pullet. View attachment 3801169My other roosters all went to a great home!
Gorgeous boy!

Here my sweet roo! He's just such a good boy. Whenever I feed the chickens treats he'll always do his little chuckle to call them over. He'll grab the treat and spit it out for the hens 💕.
Sometimes when I go out to sit on the bench in their run he hops up next to me and kinda nestles his head under my arm for a cuddle.
His name is Alek and he's a Speckled Sussex. I think he's really pretty.☺️
