rules of thumb for when to change feed?

I have 4 10 week old chicks and they are still eating the starter feed. Am I supposed to switch to grower feed at some point? Then to layer? a rough time line would be helpful. Also, since about week 7 they range around the back yard for at least 6 hours a day. usually more.

You can switch them to grower now if you want or keep them on starter until they start laying and then switch to the layer feed and the timeline can vary alot, but usually it's within 18-26wks.
