I bred Modern Game Bantams for YEARS. They were my hearts forever. As I got older, I decided to get into egg production and sold off my MGB's.. I was spending money on feed and wanted to get more out of what I was giving.. I sold a lot of eggs to cover my expenses and still do.
However, My heart still goes back to the little game birds, BUT, I LOVE the height of the large game birds.. Like MGB's on Sci-Fi radiation/or steroids.
I'm pushing 50 now, and am told I am on glue to try to get into any of the tall game birds. I specifically like The Saipans and the Asils for their eagle eyed/bird of prey look.
I have more than enough room for a trio or group, but am worried about being kicked/spurred by a small velociraptor.. ( the MGB's could be bad enough at 1 pound.. what can happen with a 15 pound 36" tall roo?
Trying to locate breeders as well.. Apparently, not a common breed..Maybe not one that is well liked for the reason I am so apprehensive?
There's one hatchery that has a mile long waiting list (Cackle) for Saipans.. But, I'm still debating.. Any suggestions?
