Salmon Faverolles. Black and Salmon

Hello,

I picked up 9-ish straight run Salmon Faverolles at a feed store about 2-3 weeks ago and am curious about sexing them. I had heard, and seen some posts here, that you can sex them by the color of their wings by week 2 or 3.

Is it really as simple as lots of black feathers = boy and lots of red/salmon feathers = girl? I.E top chick is a boy, bottom chick is a girl?

Yep, the males and females of this breed are completely different colors.

Awesome! Y'all ain't gonna believe this. After PirateGirl confirmed that you can sex by the color, I counted how many pullets and cockerels I had.

I wound up with 7 pullets and 2 cockerels. Haha! It's almost like winning a mini-lottery.

That ain't bad. Bout as cheap as Ideal or Welp.
