In the Brooder
I have been relatively lucky with my small flock, but my recent prolapse scare had me wondering where all the chicken specialists are?! It seems that most vets are not comfortable with chickens and we are left to our own devices (making me contemplate going back to school to become a vet myself!)
Anyone in California have a vet they like and trust with their flock?! I found one that atleast saved my Cochin for now, but I could still tell her knowledge was limited (she's in Half moon bay, south of SF and is still my go-to) However, if the prolapse gets worse or complications arise, I'd hate to keep doing things that are uncertain at best.
I've gone from culling to full hysterectomy as options for my Cochins prolapse, so obviously I'd feel better if I had a vet that could handle even full surgery if needed!
Come on California, I thought chickens were main stream by now!
Thanks for any input,
Claire and her flock
