This is my first post here. I've been reading for a few weeks and really appreciate and enjoy this great forum!
Tonight we brought home 11 newly hatched Coturnix. We are a homeschooling family (4th, 2nd and preschool, all very interested in science and animals). The kids are very good with the birds so far, and we got them in part to be pets for them. We understand they aren't exactly lap-cuddly creatures but hope they'll remain hand-tamed with lots of little hand fed treats as we go along. So far they are awesome!
We have a plan to build a quail tractor style coop to move around our yard. For now we plan to just do that and eat the eggs. More batches/incubation will probably wait at least a year as these are our first birds as a family.
My question:
Do you have suggestions for some kind of experiments, projects, sciencey observation, etc., we could do with our covey of quail?
Thanks!
