Select for colour or shape first?

Personally I would select for type first then select for pattern and colour. But then my preference has always been to try and breed healthy, thriving, proper *type* birds as my first priority.

Nothing worse than achieving your perfect colour and pattern only to have poorly constructed birds that decline in quality and end up being a bit of a fizz after a couple of generations.
