Hi everyone,

This is my first time having chicks but we had a v.stubborn broody silkie so I twist DH arm into buying her some day old chicks (chickens for my chicken don’t count right) … I think I may have had worst luck and have all boys . They are 7 weeks old today. I’m hoping to still keep everyone either way but may need to buy more chickens /build bigger coop as currently have 6 ladies ( 3 LF hybrids and 3 silkies). I’ve attached lots of photos from different angles! Please help as I think I’m going have a lot of sweet talking to do so planning as early as possible would be better. Also any tips on multi rooster flocks or if I’m being overly optimistic that this can work. My current set up is coop in 20ftx 20ft run but they free range in the garden 9am-8pm. Thank u!!!!!

How many cockerels do you suspect you have? I've almost always had a multi rooster flock. But the ability to do it really depends on the temperament of the boys. Some cockerels are more mellow and easy going, some just want to fight. Some seem to be only interested in breeding and will wear out your poor ladies over mating. Also adequate space is a major factor in keeping a peaceful group of boys. Can you post photos of your coop and run?

Hmmmm, the Polish could be a boy.. see how they stand more upright and their tail kinda points downwards, they don't seem to have bigger waddles or other male features though? I may be wrong.

The others definitely look like girls.

Also, off topic but your birds are SO PRETTY! :love

I just have the question mark of boys over the 4 chicks in the picture. If u have any guesses of pullets or cockerels ? I have casually told my hubby we will need more girls if they are all boys.

Does the ratio change if your cockerels are bantam or is it the same as LF ? Will take photos of run and coop today for you. They do free range during the day time so are only in the run first thing in the morning and at night.

I’ve honestly drove myself mad with these chicks, I change my mind if they are boy or girl everyday 🤣 I hope you’re right and there’s only 1 cockerel.

Thank you, I do love my little fluffy butts that’s why I’m determined to keep them regardless.

Think I’ve attached pics of the run and coop. With couple of nosey hens ☺️
